Kingswood Secondary Academy

Ofsted Good

Prospective Parents

Welcome from Mrs Newman, Principal

Dear Prospective Parents

We understand that you are in the process of deciding on a secondary school placement for your child and I am delighted that you are considering Kingswood Secondary Academy. This is an exciting and important time and we would have loved to have had our normal Open Evening so that you could visit us and meet our wonderful staff and students.

However due to the current restrictions we are unable to conduct our usual events and have adapted our provision to ensure that risk is minimised for all of our community. The safety of our staff, students and community remains paramount but we appreciate the significance of this decision.

With this is mind we are using the following means to ensure you can get to know our school;

  • There is now a prerecorded video below from Mrs Michelle Newman; our Principal, as well as a video created by some of our current Year 7 students.
  • Our school prospectus is available to view on the link below.
  • We may hold tours in small groups of a maximum of 6 people. The tours will only last for 15 minutes. This will give you an opportunity to ask questions. All visitors will be asked to wear masks and we would ask you to keep your individual group size to a maximum of 3 e.g. 1 child, 2 parents or 2 children, 1 parent. If you would like to book a tour, please click here and complete the booking form. All social distancing regulations must be adhered to.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

If the tours prove to be popular, we may offer further dates for the tours but this is not yet guaranteed or confirmed.

We realise that the format this year has been significantly adapted but we are still very much looking forward to working with you through the stages of this important decision and to meeting every one of you soon.

We publish our Academy prospectus in September every year for prospective year 7 pupils and their parents. It includes information about the Academy, our high standards, the curriculum and our uniform. Click on the picture below to view our online version.

School places can now be applied for at Northamptonshire County Council. You will need to register using an email address.

You can also download a copy of the ‘Applying for a Secondary School Place in Northamptonshire 2021/22’ from the NCC website – this is the prospectus which contains information about all secondary schools in the county.

Please read it carefully before making your application.

All applications for Year 7 admission in September 2021 will be dealt with by NCC.

You DO NOT apply direct to Kingswood Secondary Academy.

Closing date for applications

Your application must reach NCC by 5 p.m. on 31st October 2020.

Failure to get your application in on time will affect your chances of obtaining a place for your child at your preferred schools.

Pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC Plan)

If your child has an EHC Plan, you do not need to apply for a school place using the process explained above. Instead, you will receive a letter from the EHC Team seeking details of your school preference.
