National Careers Week 2022

National Careers Week 2022 - 7th to 12th March 2022

Michelle Donelan, Minister of State for Higher and Further Education, has written to both parents and students to provide information on education, training and work choices for students finishing their GCSEs. Please see the letters attached below.

National Careers Week (NCW) is a celebration of careers guidance and resources in education across the UK. The aim is to provide a focus for careers guidance activity at an important stage in the academic calendar to help support young people leaving education.

Careers Week encourages education providers to bring together students, local employees and advisers through career events and activities. During National Careers Week it is up to every school, academy and college to offer careers advice and guidance to their students.

What?

National Careers Week is driven to improve the life chances and social mobility of those that need it the most.

How?

We will achieve this by continuing to work with all stakeholders responsible for addressing the issue of quality CEIAG provision in the UK.

Why?

To support all to understand, realise and fulfil their careers goals.

Aspire Webinar Series - a series of free careers and further education Webinars designed to help sixth form students make more informed decisions about their future. We’re pleased to report that last years inaugural Webinar series was a big success, with over 300 students joining us across the 10 sessions, and 99% of attendees saying they would recommend attending a webinar to other sixth form students!

One student commented, "The best thing was the Q&A section. I was able to get informative and engaging responses from the panel, as well as being able to gain serious advice on how I could make better informed decisions."

To build on this success, this year we are launching our 2022 Aspire Webinar Series, including a dedicated Career Exploration Week - taking place from 7th-11th March - to celebrate National Careers Week. This Career Exploration Week, which allows students to ask a panel of professionals about their career, is a great opportunity to meet Gatsby Benchmark 5 - “facilitating encounters with employers”.
