Kingswood Secondary Academy

Ofsted Good

Academy Transport

We politely request that you consider the local neighbourhood when dropping and collecting students at the Academy. Local residents are having difficulty with access to and from their properties, many of whom are key workers. This is due to cars blocking the streets and junctions to the new housing estates next to the Academy.

In the mornings only, we do allow parents to drive in the gates and around the roundabout, with a brief stop to drop off their child, but we cannot allow this in the afternoon due to access priority for the school buses and the large number of students leaving the building at the same time.

Please can you think about using other areas for drop off/pick up to ensure the local community has proper access to their streets and to ensure the safety of all our students at the start and end of the day.

The Academy will cease to operate a bus service from September 2021. This decision has not been made lightly and we understand the impact this will have for some families.

The review of the bus service began in March 2020, due to how undersubscribed the service was and an increase in late payments. It is no longer cost effective to operate or for the Academy to subsidize this service. We made the decision to continue running the service for the 2020/21 academic year to see if numbers improved but unfortunately there has been little change.

The bus will continue to operate for this academic year, for all students who purchase a bus pass and students who travel with a Northamptonshire County Council pass.

Students who are issued with a Northamptonshire County Council pass will be able to use their pass on the public bus services during term time from September.

Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
