16-19 Tuition Fund

The Government has introduced the 16 to 19 tuition fund which is a £96 million injection of one-off funding for the 2021 to 2022 academic year only. It is ring fenced funding for schools, colleges and all other 16 to 19 providers to mitigate the disruption to learning arising from coronavirus (COVID-19). Our share of this funding is £ £10,498.

The guidance related to the fund means that:

  • Learners who do not have 4-9 passes in either or both English and Maths GCSE at the end of KS4 can be supported by this fund.
  • Learners who have a grade 4 or above in English and/or maths but are from an economically disadvantaged background and would need catch-up support. These are defined as students from the 27% most economically deprived areas of the country based on the index of multiple deprivation
  • The Fund is not limited to supporting GCSE Maths and English but can be for any aim in the learner’s programme of study.
  • The need for support will be determined and agreed between the eligible learners and staff.
  • Typically support will be in the form of small group tuition over and above the teaching timetabled for that subject and may be delivered using a blend of online and in school delivery.
