Ski Trip 2013
This year I had arranged to go to Stowe Mountain Resort in Vermont. The weather (which I was following closely) was a vast improvement upon the great thaw of 2012! So it was with great excitement that we left Kingswood all blurry eyed at 5.00 am.
On arrival to our hotel the group instantly morphed into ‘the Kingswood Ski Family’ which was the start of an amazing trip for all. We travelled as a small but perfectly formed group of 22, including myself and Erin Craig. The group all skied to an exceptionally high standard and beginners also made vast improvements, despite a difficult learning curve.
The return flight was from JFK as we had two days in New York where the group visited Times Square, ate at Bubba Gump’s Shrimp Co, ice skated in Central Park, shopped along 5th Avenue and they also managed a trip up the Empire State building.
Here is an account from Nicola Pringle who was on the trip. “I don’t think I can actually sum up this trip in a small piece of writing. It is my final year in school and this trip has made it so memorable. What an amazing experience with everyone. The skiing was absolutely fantastic, even with the rubbish weather during the middle of the week, but then getting so much fresh snow we couldn’t stay sad for too long. I am more than certain that everyone wants to go back to America right now; I certainly did not want to come back. New York and going up the Empire State Building is something that no one is ever going to forget, what a thing to experience even with Erin stopping in the middle of the road to get a picture with an American Police car or when she stopped to get a picture with Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
From the bus journey down to the airport right up to the moment when we were being brought back, the atmosphere between everyone was absolutely incredible, and I couldn’t have asked for a better trip with such great people to spend it with. With events like Ross forgetting his helmet and too scared to tell Mrs Copas, or with our morning singing on the bus, being the first straight to breakfast or people even falling down the stairs, it was hard not to keep a smile on our faces. It was an absolute incredible experience full of laughs and such great memories and was my favourite year of skiing out of the five that I have been on. I would like to say a massive thank you to Hayley Copas and Erin Craig for organising the trip, without you two we would have been stuck here and nowhere near America, thank you on behalf of everybody who went on the trip; we hope you both enjoyed yourself. And thank you to the group that went, you all have made this an experience that I shall never forget”.
