Karen Sykes - Curriculum Lead for Science and Technology. KS3/4 Science & KS5 Chemistry
“I recently joined Kingswood after 11 years at Huxlow Science college. I gained my BSc in chemistry from University of Manchester Institue of Science and Technology back in 1995 and gained my PCGE in 1999. I teach all areas of science across all key stages, but my specialisms are in Chemistry and Physics. I have held a number of roles over the years from teacher, school council coordinator, second in science and now head of science. My main loves outside of science are reading and running with my dog.”

"I have been teaching at Kingswood since April 2017 after nearly a decade in a very successful academy chain. I have an honours degree in Applied Science from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, a GTP certificate and a Master’s degree in Education both gained in University of Northampton . I teach all 3 sciences up to GCSE level and specialise in Biology teaching it at A Level. I also have an HND certificate in Veterinary and can look after small animals and pets. I am the assistant head of Science here at Kingswood Secondary Academy."

“I recently joined Kingswood after 8 years at Corby Business Academy. I have an Honours Degree in Applied Biological Sciences and a PGCE, both gained at Bristol and started teaching in 1999. I Teach all 3 sciences up to GCSE level and specialise in Biology, teaching it at A level. I have held a number of roles over the years including keystage 3 coordinator, chairing student council meetings and timetabling. My main past times are gardening on my allotment, keeping chickens and a menagerie of exotic animals which are kept in my classroom."
