Year 9;

Pupils will be able to: 

  • Understand how to target a market 
  • Understand what makes a product or service financially viable 
  • Understand product development 
  • Understand how to attract and retain customer 
  • Understand factors for consideration when starting up a business 
  • Understand different functional activities needed to support a business start-up. 

Year 10;

Pupils will be able to: 

  • Identify the customer profile for a business challenge 
  • Be able to complete market research to aid decisions relating to the business challenge 
  • Be able to develop a design proposal for a business challenge 
  • Be able to review whether a business proposal is viable 

Year 11;

Pupils will be able to: 

  • Develop a brand identity and promotional plan to target a customer profile 
  • Be able to plan a pitch for a proposal 
  • Be able to pitch a proposal to an audience 
  • Be able to review the strengths and weaknesses of a proposal and pitch. 

Year 12;

Pupils will be able to: 

  • Understand different types of business and objectives 
  • Understand how functional areas work 
  • Understand the effect of organisational structures on how businesses operate 
  • Be able to check the financial health of businesses 
  • Understand the relationship between businesses and stakeholders 
  • Understand why businesses plan

Year 13;

Pupils will be able to:

  • Understand how to communicate with customers 
  • Be able to establish rapport through verbal and non verbal  communication 
  • Be able to convey message for business purposes 
  • Know the constraints when sharing and storing communication 
  • Understand the importance of motivation in a business setting and suggest recommendations to improve the morale in a given business scenario 
  • Understand the role of training and development in a business case.
