Farewell to Year 13

On Friday 23 June we bid a bittersweet farewell to Year 13 with a ball in their honour at Wicksteed Park Celebration Suite. The students looked glorious, every inch the stylish young women and men they have grown up to be.

The evening was kicked off in appropriate Corby style with a wee set of tunes from Bailey Dickson on the bagpipes. It was a stirring and impressive performance that lifted the roof, all from a man who has barely said a word for two years! Still waters and all that…

After a lovely meal, Mr Robertson reflected on the students’ journey through their time at school before moving on to give out some well-earned awards: some for good reasons, some less so. He finished by showing a video of teacher farewells interspersed with performance footage from many years of music lessons. Their reactions were priceless! They got over their embarrassment enough to give some lovely thank you gifts to the Sixth Form team, which were greatly appreciated.

The evening was rounded off by DJ Josh Miller on the decks – a fitting bookend to all of his excellent AV support during his time at Kingswood. Much dancing was had by all (even if the staff only recognised half of the tunes…).

They all now move on to university or employment, taking the Kingswood way of doing things out into the world.

From all of us at the academy, thank you and good luck.
