The Kingswood School opens as an Athletics Development Centre

The Kingswood School in association with Corby Athletics Club and Corby Borough Council has become Corby’s premier Indoor Athletics Centre.

The new facilities will be used to train young athletes during the winter in all Athletics Events. The new school sports hall also offers excellent facilities for high jump and so it is expected that athletes will travel to the venue to train from all over the East Midlands.

Head of Physical Education Matt Gamble said, ‘The opening of the new Athletics Centre is a fantastic opportunity for all of the Kingswood Students and enthusiastic young athletes from Corby and indeed from much further afield.’

The project is supported by Corby, Oundle and Thrapston Schools Sports Partnership.

During October, taster sessions are being offered by Corby Athletics Club coaches for students from the school and other schools in the community. Corby Borough Council’s Development Coach, Bill Boyd will be running free coaching sessions at the school on Wednesday evenings during October and November from 17.30 to 19.00.

For more details please contact Bill Boyd on 07970 812177.

Children from Danesholme Junior School and Woodnewton Junior School enjoy the opening of the Kingswood Indoor Athletics Centre.
