Message from Principal

Dear Parents/Carers

I am excited to be able to let you all know about our new drive to improve student leadership and our recognition programme. Mr Van Lier is leading on this and we have revamped how our achievement points, now called 'inspiration' or 'i-points', are awarded.

We firmly believe that if our pupils demonstrate a positive attitude to learning, i.e. effort in lessons, having the correct equipment, making a positive contribution, then the achievement of good academic results will follow. Apparently the promise of having afternoon tea with the Principal is proving to be a popular incentive and several pupils have already accrued over 50 i-points!

Mr Van Lier is also developing our student leadership programme. Shortly we will have appointed out 6th Form Head and Deputy Head Boys and Girls who will be leading the student council. As well as student councillors there will be several ambassador roles that will allow students to demonstrate and develop the qualities of leadership which are so important and desirable in the work place.

On a different note, we have received several complaints from members of the public about parents parking on the yellow lines, pavements and zebra crossing exclusion zones outside of the Academy. The Police are also aware and PCSOs have been dropping in at the end of the day to ensure that traffic regulations are not being flouted. Can I ask please that parents do not park where they should not. I would hate for parking tickets to be issued but the Police or Traffic Enforcement Officers, but obviously this is a possibility if parents continue to park where they have been.

Thank you in anticipation of your co-operation.

Mr A Burton, Principal
