Kingswood Secondary Academy

Ofsted Good

Student Voice

Our Student Council has been re-formed to further enhance Student Voice at Kingswood. Nominations and a ballot were recently held and the successful students will now take their place on the Council.

We would like to congratulate the following students who were successful in being elected by their peers to represent them on the Student Council:

Aardman KS3 Sophie Whitty Year 7
  KS4 Brandon Wall Year 10
Bourne KS3 Michael Sanni Year 9
  KS4 Faye Webb Year 10
Glennie KS3 Ella Hill Year 8
  KS4 Lily Smith Year 11
Hepworth KS3 Dom King Year 9
  KS4 Jordan Hetherington Year 10
Littlewood KS3 Ennija Zalecka Year 9
  KS4 Lewis Elmier Year 11

The Council will hold it's inaugural meeting within the next few weeks.

Each House elected two representatives to join the Council, which will meet once each term during the Academy day. Prior to this meeting the House Council representatives will hold a 'clinic' for students from their House to make suggestions/requests/put items for discussion onto the agenda of the Council. These 'clinics' will be supported by either the Progress Leader or Progress Mentor.

Student Council representatives may be called upon to perform other duties for example:

  • Taking prospective members of staff on tours of the Academy
  • Interviewing prospective members of staff
  • Possibly even speaking at Parents' Evenings - but this would only be by agreement!

Of course it's good for Kingswood to have students speaking up in a constructive way to help to make us the best Academy we possibly can be. It is also a very good experience for individual students and looks good on CVs!
