Somme History Field Trip
On Friday 12th February at 1 a.m. when the rest of Kingswood School were tucked up in their beds and despite the snow and a two hour delay at Dover, Karen Martindale, Mike McGivern, Dave Llewellyn, Alison Whitfield and Hayley Copas accompanied forty-nine Year 10 students to The Somme battlefield as part of their History coursework.
The students visited Beaumont Hamel, Canadian trenches, no man's land, cemeteries and memorials.
Visiting the trenches, cemeteries and memorials to the missing and dead proved to be an emotional and thought provoking experience.
