Years 12 & 13 Barcelona Field Trip

From Monday 12th – Thursday 15th September, the Year 12 & 13 Geographers enjoyed a great field trip to Barcelona in support of their AS and A2 studies.

After soaking up a few envious comments from fellow staff (no one complained when we were rained on in the Lake District!) and the stressfully slow moving car park that is the M1 on the way to Luton airport we were soon enjoying temperatures of over 300C…

Here are a few of the students’ comments about the trip:

"I have enjoyed doing beach profiles and learning about how the plant diversity changes while going inland." - Nathan

"I enjoyed seeing how sand dunes are affected by whether they are in managed or unmanaged locations." – Casey

"The urban fieldwork that we did in El Raval (part of Barcelona) was great, it gave us the opportunity to see ‘rebranding’ and ‘regeneration’ of an otherwise declining area for ourselves. This helped a lot to improve overall understanding of changes and effects in urban areas such as El Raval." – Louise

"The thing I enjoyed most about Barcelona is learning about urban areas and seeing how people in poverty live." - Hena

"Awesome!" – Jamie

"I particularly enjoyed Park Guell on the first day, it helped with both Geography and Art." – Lewis

"I enjoyed the different approach to fieldwork." – Daniel

"Being able to be outside and active while discovering the diversity of plant life on sand dunes was really good." – Sean

"I enjoyed seeing the different lifestyles of different people in the urban zones we studied. Also the beach and the banter!" - Andrew

"The experience was enjoyable but it was a bit scary in Barcelona’s China Town district!" - Aiden

"I enjoyed seeing how tourism has helped improve an area and how it affects the way that people live." - Jess

Well done to all of our students who were a pleasure to spend the week with and a credit to Kingswood. We look forward to the next one!
